Creating an act about your culture/heritage/race as a performer of color can be incredibly empowering, vulnerable and sometimes dangerous. How can we share our identities on stage with the intention to educate, question, reveal, call to action or tell a story? What tools do we have to work with and how do we protect ourselves in the process?
Join a presentation/class/conversation led by Leila Delicious, as a forum to find answers together.
This class is 90% lecture/ conversation based and 10% improvisational movement.
Due to the nature of this class, we are allowing for a flexible time frame between 90 - 120 minutes.
What to bring:
A prop or costume piece that is culturally significant.
Notebook and pen.
What to wear: Comfortable clothing you can move in. Shoes are optional.

Leila Delicious (she/her) is a burlesque artist who exists at the epicentre of queer Palestinian decadence. A master of the slow burn, she delights in the art of antici…pation—holding audiences rapt, breathless, and begging for more.
Leila’s journey began in political performance art, where her work intertwined sensuality and resistance. She continues that legacy through burlesque, transforming the stage into a site of pleasure, power, and liberation. Beyond the spotlight, Leila is training as a Dance/Movement Therapist, dedicated to serving her own and other marginalized communities. Her mission is to cultivate spaces of embodied healing and empowerment—where movement becomes a radical act of decolonization, and where dance and revolution move together, hand in hand.
