Are you curious about exploring masculinity through movement?
In this workshop Dusty Bahls will help students focus on exaggerated and enhanced masculine movement for their stage performance (or daily lives). The class will start with a brief lecture about drag, 1-2 videos will be shown, followed by discussion. Then we will get on our feet and explore actions and postures through drills and activities where everyone will get a chance to tap into their masculine selves.
Content Warning: This class will discuss gender and gender identity, genitalia, conventional masculinity as well as sexism throughout history and in our current political/social state.
Level: All levels are welcome!
What to wear: Please wear movement clothes, comfortable shoes and underwear if you are comfortable with packing. Please bring an extra pair of socks (not on your feet) or a packer if you have one (no need to go out and buy one).
What to bring: Note taking materials and water.

Dusty Bahls is a fiery drag sensation and producer known for his ridiculous antics and charismatic stage presence. With over 20 years working as a professional artist, Dusty has experience in a variety of art forms ranging from a video editor and videographer for Playboy, Inc. to sound designer and photographer, to DJ opening for artists such as KC and the Sunshine Band, The Pointer Sisters and Sheena Easton. Not only is Dusty a drag king, multimedia expert and instructor, but he's also a fire performer who has been spinning his blazing balls across North America for the past thirteen years. In 2023, Dusty performed in the Movers, Shakers and Innovators showcase at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender. As a performer, Dusty prides himself on creating a man worth celebrating on stage, and creating quality, amusing narratives to share with his audiences. He believes that other performers can create the humans they want to see in the world through their art and performance work. With a twinkle in his eye, Dusty will leave you thinking about Bahls all night long.
