This workshop covers a wide range of topics and motion that influence masculine movement on stage.

Participants will explore masculine burlesque choreography and tropes, drag king movement, power poses, structured shapes and moves, masculinity as a role, masculine characterization, and beyond! Prepare to play and push the boundaries with this inclusive and fun class for all levels and all genders.

This class is inclusive and is taught from a trans man's perspective, and includes examining masculinity in a way that challenges fragile and toxic masculinity, and empowers participants to dismantle and re-design "traditional" masculinity. Everyone is welcome!

What to expect: Masculine movement and some note taking.

What to wear:

• Comfy clothing you can move in.

• Shoes: Shoes your wear on stage or bare feet.

What to bring:

• Notebook and pen for note taking.

• Bottle of water.

Alexander the Great is an international award-winning aerialist, classically trained dancer, and Drag King based in Austin, Texas with over 31 years of live performance experience! He’s known for performing on aerial apparatuses like the Lyra (aerial hoop), pole, aerial chains, the silk hammock and his acrobatic chair. He has been making waves as a Drag King since 2015, establishing shows in Austin that carve out space specifically for Kings and underrepresented entertainers. He is is also known for known for breaking the mold as the first trans man to win Mister Austin Pride and Mr. Austin Entertainer of the Year!
